The Play Active School Soccer (PASS) program, offered at Burnaby Central Secondary, is accepting registration of dedicated players, both boys and girls, in grades 8 to 12.

This program offers student athletes the opportunity to attend daily soccer training throughout the school year, comprising of:

  • 4 sessions on field training per week
  • 1 classroom session per week
  • the equivalent of approximately 100 hours of soccer-related training per semester

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for acceptance into the program:

  • A minimum C average on all academic courses
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent work habits
  • Letters of recommendation from school and soccer coach

New students to Burnaby Central applying for the PASS program must enroll in the PASS program for the full school year (September to June). Returning students have the option to enroll for the full school year or for one semester (starting September or February). All applicants must be assessed by the Burnaby Central Secondary staff and the PASS coaches prior to acceptance to the PASS program.

Applications must be received by June 1st for the September semester.
Applications received after these dates will be placed if space is available.
Application packages must include the following:

  • Completed registration form
  • Signed consent form to release information, medical consent & Player’s Code of Conduct
  • A copy of school report card and transcript**
  • Letters of recommendation from previous school and soccer coach**
  • $300.00 deposit, cheque payable to Play Active School Soccer (PASS), dated June 1

** only students who are new to Burnaby Central Secondary or the PASS program

Fees and Payments

A $300.00 deposit must accompany the application (payable to Play Active School Soccer and post-dated June 1 of the current year). Once accepted into the program, the balance or post-dated cheques are due 30 days prior to the start of the semester. Deposit cheques will be returned to applicants who are not accepted into the program.

Program fees and payment schedule are as follows:

Full year – $1920.00

$300 deposit plus 6 post-dated cheques in the amount of $270.00 each and dated the first of September, October, November, February, March and April, plus $150.00 for apparel kit.

One semester – $960.00 (this option is only available to returning PASS students)

$300 deposit plus 3 post-dated cheques in the amount of $220.00 each and dated the first day of month (September semester – September, October and November; February semester – February, March and April), plus $150.00 for apparel kit.

Families with two or more student athletes enrolled in the PASS program will be eligible for a 10% discount on the second and third student athlete’s registration fees (excluding apparel kit).

Refund Policy
To cancel your registration and receive a refund, written notification must be received 30 days prior to the start of the semester. A $100.00 administration fee will be charged on all refunds. There will be no refunds after the program has started.
